Words Don't Mean What They Used to Mean

Words Don't Mean What They Used to Mean
The media has misused words to such an extent, they don't mean what they should mean, to many people.

From a recent AP piece:

"Facing a conservative backlash, House Republicans are working to change a new law that allows the indefinite detention without trial of terrorist suspects, even U.S. citizens seized within the nation's borders. [...] Conservatives fear that the detention provision could result in unfettered power for the federal government"

So now, even the highly left-biased AP admits that what conservatives are conserving is in fact our 'liberal' freedoms, while the supposedly 'liberal' left is enacting harsh laws allowing unlimited detention of US citizens.

Words do not mean what they used to mean. Of course, U.S. conservatives are not conservative like Russia's Putin is 'conservative', or Syria's Assad is 'conservative'.

Extra care must be taken to elucidate these differences. In a world where a defining characteristic of a 'liberal' has come to be the support of the unlimited killing of babies in their mothers' wombs, it is critical to stay clear on realities, not words.
